The story revolves around Tsukune Aonoa boy who inadvertently enrolls in a boarding school for monsters. He quickly befriends Moka Akashiyaa vampire who soon develops an obsession with his blood, and later meets other monster girls who soon take a romantic liking to him. The manga was serialized in Monthly Shonen Jump starting with the August issue, and ending with the June issue.

In terms of continuity this story takes place more in the anime universe than the manga. Assume this is a season 3 in effect. By the end of this story multiple supporting characters will be replaced or altered.
Then, completely by accident, he gets accepted to a school where youkai attend and are taught how to be human. Before he gets to school, he has a run-in with Moka Akashiyawho sucks his blood. Other than being a little light-headed, Tsukune now finds out he has a girlfriend. Thing is, every guy on campus is also after her.
She initially hated Tsukune Aonoclaiming that she had fallen in love with Moka Akashiya and used her magical powers to try to drive them apart. However, after both Tsukune and Moka save her from bullying classmates, she falls for him too. Her obsession with both has driven her to try to create a three-way relationship between them though shortly after Fang Fang's introduction, she attempted to create a larger relationship involving Kurumu and Mizore as well.
In the hatchling form, they appear as a creature strongly resembling a generic, cartoonish chick, with a chubby body, head, small legs, wings, and black button-like eyes. In the proper grown or adult form, the Phoenix's appearance is completely different. Unlike the hatchling form, the true, grown form of the phoenix is that of a graceful, majestic, fire-covered bird of tremendous size, strongly resembling a swan in shape.
