The British Are Coming! April 13, Join us at Shelton Vineyards for the Southeast's largest display of vintage automobiles. There will be numerous British cars on the grounds of Shelton Vineyards with over cars on display.
For over years, people have been drawn to the natural beauty and ideal growing conditions of Mount Veeder. Its slopes were once thickly wooded with Douglas firs and towering redwoods. But with its steep slopes, seabed soil, and nourishing breezes of nearby to San Pablo Bay, vintners soon found that Mount Vedeer was the ideal canvas for the winemaker's art. The first vintage from the mountain was presented at the Napa County Fair inand the mountain has been home to some of the region's most unique wines ever since.

The late Denis Dubourdieu, former winemaker, professor of oenology at the University of Bordeaux and recipient of the Decanter Hall of Fame Award insaid there were five conditions that make a perfect vintage for red Bordeaux. One and two: early, rapid flowering and fruit-set during weather that is sufficiently warm and dry to ensure pollination and predisposal towards simultaneous ripening; this gives the potential for a timely crop of evenly ripened grapes. Four: full ripening of the various grape varieties thanks to dry and warm but not excessively so weather in the months of August and September.

Entrants are encouraged to dress in keeping with the style and era of their car and compete for the coveted Style Award. They tell stories all by themselves; people need not even be mentioned.
The vintage BMWs in attendance numberedto be precise, along with more than a thousand people from as far away as the state of Washington. And that, of course, is fairly ironic, considering that Sturdy conceived Vintage at the Vineyards as a local event. In the grand scheme of things, the awards were perhaps the least important things at Vintage at the Vineyards.
