We're about to do some hangar flying under the guise of talking about some of the most trusting people I've ever met in my life. These are people who let me fly their airplane and, in so doing, gave me hangar tales I repeat as often as I can. Bushby Midget Mustang II. In Robert Bushby began work on a two place design based on the Midget Mustang. In July the prototype was flown to the convention and was well received.
Also known as the Long Midget, the Midget Mustang is perhaps the most admired and enduring homebuilt design ever. Even though it was designed over 50 years ago it is still much in demand because of its good looks, good handling characteristics, and fighter like performance. The market never developed but because of the plane's good looks and great flying qualities it has been very popular with homebuilders.

It is a low-wing cantilever monoplane of metal construction, primarily of T3 aluminum and most are fitted with fixed tailwheel undercarriage. Developed by Piper engineer David Long inplans for production by Schweizer were underway at the time of Long's death two years later. The Midget Mustang design being marketed in is similar to the original, with the option of building it with a bubble canopy in place of the straight line of the upper tailcone and hinged canopy of Long's original design, making it an M-IA. Construction requires about hours of builder time.
